Tonight he will screen and discuss some of his key films, including SUNBEAM (1980), PICNIC (1987), ABDUCTEES (1995), and IN THE WOODS (2008), as well as a wide-ranging selection of his television commercials and work produced for television programs. Boundary Crossings July 13, 2009
PNCA presents Boundary Crossings: An Institute in Contemporary Animated Arts from July 13 - 24, 2009. "With the advent of digital technologies, the appearance of hybrid moving images has emerged as the norm, affecting boundaries between live action, animation, image processing, and compositing as porous as the platforms of display that host them. Through re-defining animation and the manipulated image, animated art forms are being pushed beyond the movies to permeate our cultural landscape." The Institute is a series of private workshops and public lectures and screenings featuring instructors from the PNCA Intermedia department. It will begin with a public opening in PNCA's Feldman gallery of animated installation work by Jessica Mein, Daniela Repas (with Todd Tawd and Thornton C. Wilson), and Marina Zurkow. Public opening reception • 6-8pm • July 13 Pacific Northwest College of the Arts • 1241 NW Johnson • 503.226.4391

It's time for an ASIFA social! April 4, 2008
As the winter slowly leaves us, it's time to show our faces again and share stories about how much work we've completed, inspiration we've found and versions of software we've installed.
When: Friday, April 4th, 2008
Where: The Lucky Lab at 1945 NW Quimby in Portland, OR
Time: 6pm until whenever
Why: Because it's been too long and we have lots to discuss, like membership, where to host the Melbourne Int'l. Australian Animation festival...
But Wait, There's More! We will also have our own ASIFA Portland t-shirts available to buy. They are cool, hip and elevate you above the masses.
We'll send out a reminder to members and guests soon, but go ahead and mark the date now. Get back into the animation scene in Portland and see what everyone else is doing!
See you all soon!

Premiere of Creature Comforts June 4, 2007
This Monday, June 4th, will be the premiere of Creature Comforts, the U.S. Version of the British television series of the same name, based on the short film from Aardman studios.
We are lucky enough to have several of the animators who worked on it in Portland, and we will be hosting an opening night viewing at the Art Institute Gallery space ( in the main lobby).
Aardman animators will be there to take questions and give us some behind the scenes info!
Admission is free to ASIFA members, and a small donation is requested for non-members.
The show starts at 8:00 pm, so arrive around 7:30 to mingle and secure a spot early! Space is sort of limited.
This event is co-sponsored by F.A.T.S.O.F.A.C.E., the student animation society from the Art Institute of Portland.
